METAIRIE, La. -- AChalmette woman was the victim of a carjacking Tuesday, when she was attacked outside of a business on Veterans Boulevard shortly before noon, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

The 68-year-old woman was in a car in front of a business in the 200 block of Veterans when a man armed with a broken bottle ordered her out of the car. The man slashed the woman to her head and arm after she was slow to get out of the car, said a statement from the sheriff's office.

The attacker pulled her from the car and drove away in the white 2004 Chevrolet 4-door Cavalier with a Louisiana license plate number NWL309.

According to the sheriff's office, the man is described as a white male, in his mid 20s, 5-feet-6, with a thin build and a bald head. The man has tattoos on his head, neck and face.
