NEWORLEANS- Two NOPDofficers were injured following a high-speed chase that started in New Orleans East and ended in St. John Parish just before midnight.

According to police, officers were attempting to pull over a vehicle that was associated with an aggravated kidnapping case.

Police say the driver was 31-year-old Rory Dimes, who was wanted for a series of charges, including:aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, illegal carrying of a weapon and violation of a protective order.

The vehicle, a Toyota Avalon with New York plates, sped off near Morrison Road and took officers through New Orleans, Jefferson Parish and into St. John Parish before the suspect managed to get away in the LaPlace area.

A police spokesman said that one of the officers' vehicles fishtailed during the chase and struck a tree. One of the officers was treated and released, while the other was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Both officers were said to be in good condition.
