KENNER, La. - A 19-year-old man was arrested after police said he used a sawed-off shotgun to rob a neighbor of his cell phone and wallet Thursday morning.

According to Kenner Police spokesman Brian McGregor, 19-year-old Johnny Washington put on a ski mask and was armed with the shotgun when he confronted a neighbor near his storage shed and demanded the cell phone and wallet.

Police said Washington then ordered the man to wait inside the storage shed for five minutes while he fled.

The neighbor then saw Washington go into a nearby home and he alerted police.

When officers arrived, they searched the home, which was Washington's home, but there was no one inside. However, officers said they found the ski mask inside and the shotgun in the rear yard.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident to call the Kenner Police Detective David Stromeyer at (504) 712-2214 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Kenner Police Department website:
