NEW ORLEANS, La. Fan favorite Lance Moore tweeted his good-bye to New Orleans Friday morning.

The tweet, that thanked the city and its fans for 'an amazing nine years,' came on the heels of an announcement that the team was shopping Moore along with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles to clear cap room.

The move to release Moore was made official Friday afternoon.

'Thank you New Orleans for an amazing nine years. Who Dat Nation, the best on earth!!!' was the message tweeted just after 7:00 a.m. Friday by Saints wide receiver Lance Moore.

'Lance Moore made a significant contribution to our team's success,' said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton. 'While his production on paper is obvious, it only tells half the story. Lance came to us an undrafted rookie who went to NFL Europe and spent time on our practice squad. He went on to produce outstanding results on the field for us as a result of his work ethic, reliability and commitment to get better every day. He's been one of the pillars of what we have built here as an organization.'

Thursday night, Moore tweeted in response to rumors that he may be cut from the team, 'It's news to you, it's news to me people. Guess we wait n see. Appreciate the love and support from everyone tho.'

Moore was scheduled to count $5.1 million against the cap. Thomas is owed $2.9 million, and Sproles is at $3.4 million.

The three represent about $12 million against the Saints' salary cap.

The Saints have about $3.5 million in cap space and are looking to re-sign tight end Jimmy Graham, who was recently put under the franchise tag.
