NEW ORLEANS -- The charges have been dropped against a prized Tulane University football recruit who was arrested for simple rape, and he has been reinstated with the team.

Niguel Veal, 18, an all-state wide receiver at West Jefferson High School and freshman at the university, was booked in April on a simple rape charge in New Orleans, according to police.

Veal was suspended from the team following the arrest.

The news of the dropped charge came as Tulane opened training camp for the 2014-2015 football season.
