NEWORLEANS-- Two people were killed and five others were shot in the 9th Ward Sunday night, according to the NOPD.

NOPD spokesman Frank Robertson said two of the shooting victims -- a 2-year-old and 4-year-old child -- were in critical condition. An 18-year-old woman and an unidentified man were pronounced dead. Two other victims were said to be in stable condition.

Relatives told Eyewitness News that the 18-year-old killed is actually 16-years-old and that her name was Jasmine Anderson. She was due to return to school Monday.

The male victim has still not been identified.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday night, witnesses said someone opened fire on a porch filled with people in the 5400 block of Burgundy Street, and that of the injured victims, one was a mother and two others were children.

The mother remains in critical condition Monday morning and her two children a 2-year-old shot in the eye and a 4-year-old shot in the head, also remain in critical condition.

Two others were also injured in the shooting, a 37-year-old was treated and released and a 13-year-old remains under evaluation.

Robertson said that witnesses observed a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Honda Accord, with a Louisiana commercial license plate fleeing the scene. Robertson said the car was occupied by several African-American males.
