RUSTON, La. (AP) -- DaQuavious Wagner scored 20 points and Peabody never trailed in defeating St. Augustine 58-41 for the Louisiana boys Class 4A title Saturday night.

It turned out that Class 4A was tougher to win than 5A for the Purple Knights. Last year's Louisiana boys 5A champion dropped to 4A, but couldn't keep up with the Warhorses (35-1).

St. Augustine (28-3) missed its first four field goal attempts and did not score until 1:40 remained in the first quarter.

Peabody shot 17 for 37 (45.9 percent) from the field and made 23 of 36 free throws while committing only 13 fouls to St. Augustine's 24.

Troy Jones added 15 points for the Warhorses on 7-of-10 shooting.

Javan Felix, who finished with 13 points, led the Purple Knights, who shot only 38.1 percent (16 for 42) for the game. Craig Victor added 10 points, making all four of his field goals.
