KENNER, La. - Jefferson Parish leaders said they want to hear from its residents about debris collection after Hurricane Isaac.

On Thursday morning, they are holding a special meeting to discuss the issue.

Two weeks after Isaac, reisdents are asking why the debris that they have raked up and bagged up is still sitting in front of their homes.

Wet carpets, bags full of leaves, trees, branches and more wait on the street to be picked up.

The parish is far ahead in the collection process compared to Hurricane Gustav, said Jefferson Parish President John Young.

At 9:30 a.m., the council will ask parish administrators and the companies in charge of debris removal exactly where they stand in the clean-up process.

The meeting will be held at the Joseph S. Yenni Building at 1221 Elmwood Parkway Blvd.

Residents are invited to attend and will be given the chance to question those responsible for clean-up.
