NEWORLEANS - New Orleans police have located the mother of the child whom police found playing alone Tuesday in a playground near Frenchmen and Royal streets.
Police say the mother, who hasn't been identified, is being transported to headquarters for questioning. Charges may be forthcoming.
Police say the child, who appears to be about 2 years old, was discovered by a Good Samaritan, playing by himself in a playground near Frenchmen and Royal streets.
Police said the Samaritan said the child had been by himself for about 30 minutes.
The child was taken into protective custody by family services and given medical clearance. The police said they have also canvassed the area where he was found, looking for a guardian.
