NEWORLEANS-- Four players suspended in connection with the bounty scandal have rejected a settlement from the National Football League.

According to a report from, the suspended players -- Jonathan Vilma, Will Smith, Anthony Hargrove and Scott Fujita -- turned down a settlement offer from the league 'because it required some acknowledge of culpability.'

The players turned down the deal to have their suspensions reduced in exchange for admitting some guilt in the bounty scandal.

Paul Tagliabue, the former NFLcommissioner who is overseeing the players' appeals, is expected to hand down his ruling by Thursday.
