A mobile home fire early Saturday killed a Hammond woman, the state fire marshal said.

The fire broke out at approximately 6:45 a.m. in the 19000 block of Lincoln Lane.

Hammond firefighters arriving on the scene put out the fire and then discovered the body of Sonya Richardson, 51, inside the home.

Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen, near the cooktop and exhaust system, according to the fire marshal's office.

The Hammond Fire Department along with Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies and state fire marshal authorities are investigating further.

There were smoke alarms in the mobile home, authorities said, but they were unable to determine if they were working.

No foul play is suspected, officials said.
