NEW ORLEANS - His devastating football injury shocked the nation. Seven months later, Devon Walker made his first public appearance.

The Tulane football player was paralyzed in September. Thurdsay night, he was greeted with a standing ovation inside Tulane's McAlister Auditorium.

Walker was there to judge the 'Tulane's Got Talent' show.

The senior plans to resume classes either in the summer or the fall.

He is currently undergoing physical therapy five days a week at Touro Hospital.

'Nothing but struggles I guess, just from the smallest thing, from getting out of bed to get dressed, something that might take me 20-30 minutes, takes two hours, now, just to get ready and everything now,' Walker said.

Still, Walker said he is grateful for the outpouring of support since the injury.

'I'm thankful for everybody who is still supporting me, my family and my friends who are still there and I can't wait to get back to the way I was,' he said.

Proceeds from the talent show will go to the Devon Walker Fund.

The fund supplements Walker's NCAA health insurance.
