NEWORLEANS - New Orleans and Japan are separated by some 6,000 miles, but as you'll see in a special Channel 4 documentary Tuesday night, music unites the two countries like nothing else can.

We traveled to Japan in 2012 with a group of young people from O. Perry Walker and the Tipitina's Foundation on a sort of cultural exchange uniting the two countries both touched by disaster.

Music was what brought them together.

Some of the stars of the show - Wilbert Rawlins and the Chosen Ones Brass Band from O. Perry Walker High School and Mary Von Kurnatowski with the Tipitina's Foundation - were in the studio.

The half-hour special, featuring The Chosen Ones and the Tipitina's Foundation interns, is called 'Tragedy to Triumph: The Musical Bridge Between New Orleans and Japan.'

It airs at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 4.

The Chosen Ones performed in the studio Tuesday morning.
