SLIDELL, La. - One man was captured and another escaped police in the marshes of New Orleans East after a high-speed chase from Slidell to Michoud Blvd. Thursday evening.

According to Slidell Police, officers attempted to stop a blue Nissan Xterra near Old Spanish Trail and I-10 around 7 p.m. Police said the vehicle was occupied by two men who had active warrants - Leo Charles, who was driving; and Prentiss Wallace, a passenger.

The chase started in that area and ended on Michoud Blvd. when police said Charles and Wallace jumped out of their vehicle and ran into the marshes.

Charles was captured with the help of a K-9. He was treated for minor dog bites. Wallace was able to get away and elude searchers, which included a helicopter. The search was called off at 9:30 p.m.

Charles was transported to University Hospital in order to be treated for minor dog bites, and was then booked into to the Slidell City Jail where he is awaiting to be transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. Charles is facing charges of aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer by flight, possession of a schedule II narcotic (crack cocaine), and a probation violation.

Slidell Police are asking the public's help with the apprehension of Prentiss Wallace. Wallace is currently wanted by Slidell Police for resisting an officer by flight, from last Saturday's incident, and will be facing additional charges for the aggravated flight in last night's pursuit. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Wallace is asked to call Slidell Police at 985-643-3131 or CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111. If someone provides information that leads to the arrest of Wallace may be eligible for a cash reward.
