NEW ORLEANS A fatal shooting late Monday on Louisiana Avenue is the city's latest homicide.

The death of a male victim, who was shot in the 1900 block of Louisiana Avenue, has been ruled a homicide, according to John Gagliano, a spokesman for the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.

According to a police report, the male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

The male victim was the third homicide on Monday. Two other fatal shootings one in the 800 block of North Dupre Street and one in the 4700 block of Stemway Drive claimed the lives of two other men.

Additionally, on Sunday, a woman killed in a shooting in New Orleans East, and a man was gunned down in St. Roch early Tuesday morning, totaling five homicides in three days and the seventh since the beginning of October.
