NEW ORLEANS -- A new report reveals the impact of the recent government shutdown had on the metro area's economy.

According to Moody's analytic calculations, New Orleans is estimated to have lost more than $65 million over the 16-day shutdown that left tourist destinations like Chalmette Battlefield and Armstrong Park shuttered.

For Louisiana, Moody's estimates the shutdown removed just under $92 million from the economy.

Nationwide, the shutdown is estimated to have cost $24 billion.
