NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans police officer hit a building with his police cruiser Sunday afternoon, though no one was injured.

The business was closed at the time with no one inside.

NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot said the on-duty officer tried to turn onto LaSalle Street from Louisiana Avenue when he hit the side of a beauty salon. Flot said he had become distracted and lost control of the vehicle.

Flot said the police department notified the business owner of the damage.
