KENNER -- The Kenner Police Department arrested a registered sex offender living in Kenner for using a online dating website, which is a violation of his requirements.

Police said Robert Longo, 54 of Kenner, was arrested for unlawful use of social networking websites July 14 after officers received a tip that Longo was using an online dating website, Plenty of Fish, under the username, quarterman01.

Longo was convicted of pornography involving juveniles in 2007 and served three years for his conviction, according to police. Because of his conviction, police said Longo was a Tier II offender and was required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

Police said Longo signed off on his sex offender requirements in 2010, with one requirement being he can't use social media websites.

On Wednesday, officers said Longo planned to meet with someone he met on social media, which actually was an undercover cop. Longo was interviewed by police and admitted he was using social media.

Police said they arrested Longo and he is in custody with no bond set.
