SLIDELL, La. Two men and a teenage girl have been arrested in connection with a party shooting that left a man with severe injuries.
Tyrone Ward, 21; Michael Harris, 24; and Ashley Brandon, 17, were picked up in connection with the shooting of 26-year-old Jamar Wilson.
Slidell Police said that on July 20, a party for a young woman who was accepted to college, turned violent when the homeowner decided around 2 a.m. that it was time for the party to end. Police said the victim was helping with asking people to leave when he and he and Michael Harris bumped into each other and began arguing.
A short time later, the three suspects returned to the party, this time with a firearm. Wilson and Harris again got into an argument and police said that Ward snuck into a lightly-wooded area nearby and fired, striking Wilson several times. The suspects then fled the scene.
Police said that Wilson has made significant progress in his recovery, but is still listed in guarded condition two weeks after the incident.
Ward was booked with attempted second-degree murder, Harris with being a principal to attempted second-degree murder and Brandon with being an accessory after the fact to the crime.
'The victim never saw it coming,' said Police Chief Randy Smith. 'This was an ambush-type of shooting. The victim and the suspects didn't even know each other.'
