Former LSU baseball standout D.J. LeMahieu has made the leap, going from Double-A Tennessee to the majors after the Chicago Cubs had to place another player on the disabled list.

LaMahieu, Chicago's second-round pick in 2009, helped the Tigers win the College World Series in his final year in Baton Rouge.

With the Tennessee Smokies, he was hitting .358 with 15 doubles, two home runs and 27 RBIs.
