RACELAND, La. A train was unable to stop before it collided with a truck that was stuck on the track in Raceland Thursday, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office.

Jobi Stevens, 20, was on private property on Bowie Road when his pickup truck became trapped on the track, deputies said.

Stevens called friends and requested help but it wasn't long before he heard the sound of a train horn, LPSO said.

Stevens and his passenger, Cody Matherne, 20, got out of the way as the train traveling at 40 miles per hour headed towards them.

Deputies and the Union Pacific conductor and engineer made contact when the train workers noticed the truck on the tracks.

Emergency stopping procedures began on the train to slow it down to 37 miles per hour before it made contact with the truck and traveled 190 feet, deputies said.

No one was injured in the incident, according to the LPSO.

Because Stevens and Matherne were on private property without approval, they were charged with criminal trespass. Cory Cortez, 19, and Casey Allemand, 20, were also cited.
