METAIRIE, La. New Orleans Saints linebacker Scott Shanle isn't sure who is going to take over for acting head coach Joe Vitt once the regular season begins.

But he's also not sure it really matters.

'No, I think there are so many quality coaches as far as the respect that players have for them that I really don't think it will matter,' said Shanle, now in his seventh season with the Saints. 'That's one thing - the players have great respect for the coaches who are in the building.'

Vitt will begin a six-game suspension the week of the season opener. There's question as to who will take over, with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. and offensive line coach Aaron Kromer all having their name mentioned as possible candidates.

Those conversations, however, have been in the media. Shanle said players haven't discussed what will happen.

'I think when you're in the training camp part of the season, it's like a season itself so guys are worried about practice, learning the game book, but we'll deal with it when the time comes,' Shanle said. 'You know we have a lot of great coaches who I think who can fill that role, a lot of coaches that have a lot of respect from the players, so I really don't think it'll be a major difference.'
