METAIRIE, La. Three players, including starting weakside linebacker David Hawthorne, sat out Wednesday's practice, the New Orleans Saints' first session ahead of Sunday's important NFC matchup at the Green Bay Packers.

Hawthorne pulled his hamstring in the loss to Kansas City.

Meanwhile, reserve linebacker Jonathan Casillas (left knee) and defensive end Turk McBride (left ankle) also sat out.

McBride is coming close to grabbing the injury-prone label. He missed six games in 2011, five of which were for a left ankle injury. Casillas, meanwhile, spent much of last season on the practice report as well, though he missed only four games with a right knee injury.

The rest of the team went through practice, making this nearly the healthiest overall the Saints have been on a Wednesday before a game yet this season.

For Green Bay, safety Sean Richardson sat out with a hamstring injury while tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee), cornerback Davon House (shoulder), receiver Greg Jennings (groin), linebacker Jamari Lattimore (ankle) and defensive end Jerel Worthy (shoulder) all were limited. Running back James Starks was full with a toe injury.
