NEW ORLEANS -- The citizens group is mounting a legal challenge to the Nov. 6 election that extended the tolls on the Crescent City Connection for another 20 years by only 16 votes.

StopTheTolls organizer Mike Teachworth confirms the group's attorney is now preparing a lawsuit to force a recount.

Teachworth says the group plans to contest the race because of the slim margin of victory, large number of mail in and paper ballots in Orleans Parish and the number of people he claims were not allowed to vote on the referendum.

The group is now gathering evidence and rounding up potential plaintiffs in the case.

It has until December 16 to file suit.
