NEWORLEANS- A 30-year-old man was arrested and admitted to trying to run down a police officer after a traffic stop on Downman Road Sunday, according to the NOPD.

A spokesman said that Justin Henry was identified as the suspect in the incident. He was discovered at his girlfriend's home in New Orleans East and was arrested after he attempted to run.

Police said Henry was pulled over by Officer Karla Baker and pulled in to the parking lot at Domino's Pizza in the 3900 block of Downman Road. According to police, Henry locked the doors to his car and refused requests to get out. At some point, he accelerated and struck officer Baker, who was treated and released from the hospital.

Henry was booked into Central Lockup for attempted murder of a police officer, resisting an officer and criminal damage to property.
