Looking for something fun to do this weekend?There are several festivals all around the metro area, featuring tons of food, music and fun.
The Louisiana Seafood Festival expects thousands of people at City Park, which will for the first time be at City Park's new festival grounds.
'It's new, so we're trying to help people know that we're on the Wisner side of the City Park,' said Event Coordinator Jennifer Kelly.The event begins Friday at 11 a.m. and continues through Sunday.
There will be 90 delectable seafood dishes from over 30 local restaurants.
Musical highlights include Christian Serpas & Ghost Town; Better than Ezra; Royal Southern Brotherhood featuring Cyril Neville; Revival: An Allman Brothers Experience; Sister Hazel and more.
Also on Saturday it's Que Pasa Fest 2013.
'It's our third and it's probably the biggest one we've had so far.And it's free for everybody,' said spokeswoman Brenda Melara.She says everyone is welcome and they'll have a large array of Latin food from around the globe.
Que Pasa Fest 2013 is actually a six day festival filled with music and dance and will be held at various locations.The free outdoor fest on Saturday at Lafreniere Park is the main event for the whole family from noon 9 p.m. with music, 25 booths, children's activities.Bring chairs and blankets but coolers are not allowed.This year Amanda Shaw joins the celebration, to highlight her Latin roots.
Deutsches Haus' annual Oktoberfest, New Orleans' oldest Oktoberfest, is bigger and better than ever before, according to spokesman Ray Sutherlin.Oktoberfest at Kenner's Rivertown will run for three Fridays and Saturdays in October, starting Oct. 11.
On the Northshore, it's the 24th annual Wooden Boat Festival on the banks of the scenic Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, located at Water Street at Highway 22.The festival starts at 10 a.m.Water Street closes at 6 p.m.Bands run Saturday from 6:30 until 10 p.m.
Also the Bridge City Gumbo Festival is this weekend. The event kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. at Angel Square, 1701 Bridge City Ave. It runs on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 until approximately 11 p.m.
