New Orleans, La. -- Two local men, with a love of pork, are once again looking to give a hand to help children battling brain cancer.

So much in life comes down to location, location, and location. Why would it be any different when it comes to a cook off dedicated to the other white meat? Pork.

Becker Hall, one of the founders of Hogs for the Cause, explains what happens during the plot draft. Beer, of course, is included. 'Depending on what size plot they have at hogs, that's kind of the order like an NFL draft. That's why we call it the plot draft. That's how they pick their spot in the yard,' Hall says.

That spot in the yard will determine their spot in City Park for the Hogs for the Cause. And, as the name suggests, it's a festival with a cause. It started six years ago with one pig, two guys, and three kegs.

Renee Louapre, co-founder of Hogs, 'First year about 200 people showed up at the fly. We smoked one pig, and we had three kegs of beer. And now, we've got 90 teams. We've got 12 bands over two days. We've got a big dinner. But, it's all to raise money for pediatric brain cancer.'

As many parents know, the cost of caring for children can be very high, but when it comes to illness like pediatric cancer, it can be overwhelming. Through their friendly, but competitive pork cook-off, founders of Hogs for the Cause have been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars that have helped 30 different families struggling with child cancer.

90 teams are ready to put their pork-skills to the test. It all starts with their spot in City Park which, in a few weeks, will be hog heaven. 'Bring your fork and your loose fitting pants,' Louapre says.

Hogs for the Cause is set for March 28th and 29th at the City Park Festival Grounds. Some of the top musical acts include North Mississippi Allstars, The Hold Steady, Dumpstaphunk and Hurray for the Riff Raff. Tickets start at $15 for a one day pass.
