Now that more than 100 bays of the Bonnet Carre Spillway have been opened, rising Mississippi River water has been diverted into Lake Pontchartrain and any other waterway that links to it.

The lake will be murky and algae blooms are sure to form, but what other environmental changes could we see.

Dr. Robert Thomas, director of the Center for Environment Communications at Loyola University, talked with Eric Paulsen and Sally Ann Roberts about what to expect from the mixing of the water.
