NEW ORLEANS New Orleans police arrested a suspect in an early Fat Tuesday morning robbery after the man returned to the scene of the crime just hours after holding up a store and stealing thousands of dollars.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. in the 7000 block of Bullard Avenue in New Orleans East.

Marvin Davis, 20, walked into the store and demanded money from the cashier. He made away with $4,000 in cash and two bottles of 'Ace of Spades' champagne worth $1,000, but his mask slipped off during the robbery. The employee recognized Davis as the suspect before he fled out the door, according to police.

Davis later returned to the store several hours later to make a purchase. The store employee noticed it was him, so he called the police immediately. Police soon had Davis in custody.

After securing a search warrant, police found the two bottles of champagne, the pistol, the stolen cash and the money he wore in the robbery at his home.

Davis, who has no prior arrests as an adult, faces one charge of armed robbery with a gun.
