BATON ROUGE, La. -- Sen. Mary Landrieu is firing at Gov. Bobby Jindal for refusing to expand Louisiana's Medicaid program.

In a conference call Landrieu called the governor an obstructionist and accused him of putting his presidential ambitions ahead of the health needs of his citizens.

New estimates show 400,000 residents could be eligible for Medicaid if the state chose to expand the program.

In a response to Landrieu's accusation, Jindal released the following statement:

'In Louisiana, Medicaid expansion will cost taxpayers more than $1 billion dollars in only 10 years. But in Louisiana, we don't have a printing press where we can just print more money.'
