NEW ORLEANS The son of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu was arrested early today in the French Quarter on charges of driving while intoxicated as well as hit-and-run.

Frank Snellings, 21, was booked into the Orleans Parish jail, according to a clerk from Traffic Court.

'We love our son whole heartedly, but we are extremely disappointed by his irresponsible actions last night,' Landrieu said in a statement. 'Those actions have serious consequences both at home and in our legal system. We ask that the public respect his privacy as we work through this challenging time as a family.'

Snellings reportedly blew a .211 on his breathalyzer test, according to NOPDofficials.

The NOPD says Snellings was driving down BourbonStreet the wrong way, and he struck a passenger in the process. The pedestrian received minor injuries.

According to a spokesman for Sheriff Marlin Gusman, Snellings was brought in at 8 a.m. and released at 9:47 a.m. after posting a $9,000 bond.

He was charged with DWI, hit-and-run, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle and violation of one-way traffic.
