NEW ORLEANS, La. The New Orleans Police department has arrested two men, and are looking for a third, they believe shot a 31-year-old mother and her 7-year-old daughter as they walked on Palmetto Street near Airline Highway Wednesday.

The shooting that left both victims in serious condition in the hospital, happened October 2 around 4:00 p.m. in Hollygrove.

Late Thursday evening NOPD received a tip from a concerned citizen which led to 19-year-old Cornell Williams and 18-year-old Shannon Cooks. Williams' mother walked him into the Second District Police Station and Cooks was picked up at his residence.

Both men confessed to their involvement in the shooting.

Through the investigation detectives were able to get the identity of a possible third shooter, 19-year-old Kendal Marcelin, who still remains at large, and is considered armed and dangerous.

According to police, the victims were walking on Palmetto Street heading towards Hollygrove Street, when three gunmen began to shoot at them.

The 31-year-old female was shot in the stomach and both legs while her 7-year-old daughter was shot once in the face. Both victims were transported to the hospital by EMS.

Detectives believe the men were shooting at an unidentified male who was walking with the victims. The unidentified male was not injured in the shooting.

Both victims remain hospitalized and both are now in stable condition.

Both Williams and Cooks were booked into Central Lockup charged with two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault.

NOPD has issued a warrant for the arrest of Kendal Marcelin, and once apprehended he will be charged with two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault.
