JEFFERSON PARISH, La. -- Firefighters battled an early morning, two-alarm blaze on Labarre Road, near Jefferson Highway.

The fire has been extinguished, but the firefighters are still on the scene monitoring hotspots and cleaning up.

Two houses were damaged in the fire, along with an apartment building located in the rear of the houses that was also burned in the fire.

Glen Malodovar, a resident of the apartment building, said he believes the blaze started in a carport and spread, after someone was working on a car under a wooden shed when something caused the shed to catch fire.

All of the occupants were able to get out of the buildings safely, and no injuries were reported
