WWL-TV officially dedicated its newly-renovated building Thursday.

Officials from Gannett Co., including Gracia Martore, the company's president and CEO and Dave Lougee, the president of Gannett Broadcasting, were on hand for the dedication.

The renovations were just about two years to completion and included new, state-of-the-art news sets, a new newsroom, new sales offices and a newly-redone lobby and meeting rooms.

WWL-TV began broadcasting at the Rampart Street location just about 57 years ago, on Sept. 7, 1957.

'This is a really special day for us at WWL,'said WWL-TV President and General Manager Tod Smith. 'Those who have been a part of this station's history... know that this building hadn't changed that much in 57 years, until today.'

'This building retains so much of the character of the original one,'said Martore. 'This building and those inside have also weathered devastating hurricanes from Betsy to Katrina.'

The ceremonies began with the Treme Brass Band second-lining into the studios and playing New Orleans favorites like 'The Saints Go Marching In.'
