The Saints' journey to get below the expected 2013 salary cap of near $120 million began Friday when the team reportedly restricted the contract of linebacker Curtis Lofton.'s Pat Yasinskas posted late in the afternoon that Lofton and the Saints agreed to redistribute $5 million from a roster bonus to a signing bonus. By doing so, the team was able to make the $5 million work more for them than again them for salary cap purposes.

Lofton's cap hit would have been $7.1 million. With the restructuring, it's expected to be down to $3.1 million because the bonus, according to Yasinskas, will now be pro-rated for the length of the contract.
