NEW ORLEANS Two men were fatally shot in Gert Town on Sunday night, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Around 8:30 p.m., officers were called out to a 'male down' in the middle of the street in the 3500 block of Audubon Court.

They discovered a 19-year-old lying face down after being shot once. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

A few blocks away at the intersection of Broadway Street and Washington Avenue, a 53-year-old man was shot several times as he was driving.

After being shot, he traveled a short distance in his red pickup truck before crashing into a business at the intersection. Investigators believe he lost consciousness after being wounded. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Police are gathering evidence in order to identify suspects and a motive.
