NEWORLEANS - Under very tight security, 18 alleged members of 3NG plead not guilty to charges relating to the drug gang.

In an arraignment on Friday morning, charges against the defendants included guns, murders, drugs and threats.

The arrest warrant for two at-large defendants was raised to $2 million.

The 3NG gang case posed a legal problem. Only six of 18 defendants hired lawyers, and the public defender cannot represent the rest.

On June 13, 20 members of the Central City gang were indicted on racketeering charges and accused of running a criminal enterprise specializing in selling drugs and murdering rivals.

Prosecutors alleged that the gang focused most of its activity at the corner of Third and South Galvez streets and surrounding areas in the Central City neighborhood. The group also goes by the names 106 & Prieur and the 39ers.
