NEWORLEANS-- One of the signature live oak trees in Audubon Park fell and broke apart early Tuesday.

According to officials with the park, the tree is believed to be between 150 to 200 years old, and fell due to termite damage below ground.

The jogging path near the intersection of Walnut Street and St. Charles Avenue was temporarily closed in the area while Audubon's arboriculture team removed the tree. The path reopened around 1 p.m.
