KENNER, La. -- Traffic on Interstate-10 between LaPlace and Williams Blvd. began flowing around 10:30 p.m. Sunday after a standoff with a gunman ended.

Trooper Nick Manale said the 37-year oldman, who was apparently threatening to commit suicide, jumped off of the bridge, but was met by rescue boats and was taken to the hospital.

The incident began around 6 p.m. when state police began receiving calls of an armed man on the side of the interstate. Traffic was halted in both directions as police began negotiating with the man.
