NEW ORLEANS Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who held up and robbed a gas station Tuesday night, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Around 8:26 p.m., a suspect armed with a black semi-automatic handgun entered the station located at 6300 Elysian Fields Ave.

He approached the cashier and demanded money.

The victim opened the register and relinquished approximately $202, according to police.

The suspect fled the location heading south on Elysian Fields and then to an unknown location.

He is black, approximately 5'8' tall and weighs about 145 to 155 pounds. He is described as having a brown complexion and a thin build. He was wearing a black leather hooded jacket with a blue hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He had a red bandana covering his face and wore black gloves. He held the gun in his left hand.
