HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans have waived third round draft pick and former LSU Tiger Sam Montgomery.
Montgomery, who was taken 95th overall in April's draft, never played a down for the Texans.
The team had moved him to outside linebacker to begin the season, but shifted him back to the line after early struggles.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Montgomery was waived for violating team rules.
Montgomery hurt his draft stock this offseason after admitting he bet thousands of dollars with teammate Barkevious Mingo over who would be drafted higher and saying he and Mingo bet on who would have more total stats in the final game and season. He also openly admitted to taking plays off when with the Tigers.
