BATONROUGE, La -- A shooting at the General Baton Rouge State Fair late Saturday night has left one man hospitalized and in serious condition, according to WAFB News.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday following a verbal altercation at the State Fairgrounds. One suspect has been taken into custody.

The shooting occured around ten minutes after the gates to the fair were closed. Extra deputies were called to the scene to evacuate the fairgrounds.
