KENNER, La. -- A Kenner man is accused of impersonating a police officer.

According to Kenner Police, on June 6, Patrick Segari, 32, allegedly approached a woman in the parking lot of a Burger King on West Esplanade Avenue.

The woman was driving with her children when a gray car pulled in front of her in the parking lot and refused to move. The woman began honking her horn and Segari allegedly got out of the gray car. He had a holstered gun on him and told the woman he was a police officer, according to police, and began reprimanding her for honking her horn.

Segari told the woman he would give her a break after another vehicle began honking her horn, and he left the scene.

'The victim who reported this incident to police, provided a detailed description of the suspect, and advised the suspect vehicle appeared to be a Ford Crown Victoria having the appearance of a police vehicle with an 'ARMY' license plate and the words 'Police Interceptor' on the rear,' said a statement from Kenner Police.

On June 13, Officer Keith Seals spotted and stopped a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the 1300 block of West Esplanade Avenue. Segari's car, a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, had an 'ARMY' plate in the rear of the vehicle, a spot light, police strobe lights and other police equipment.

When Segari was questioned by police, he admitted to the incident in the Burger King parking lot, police said, but added he had worked for the Hattiesburg Police Department.

Detectives contacted Hattiesburg Police and learned that Segari was never a police officer there and had prior arrests in 2013 for impersonating a police officer and as a federal agent in Mississippi.

Segari works for a local security company. He was arrested and charged with one count of impersonating a police officer.

Anyone with information concerning Segari or having been stopped by him are asked to call Kenner Police Detective Michael Archuleta at 504-712-2253 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
