METAIRIE, La. -- A mother and her 14-year-old daughter were carjacked Saturday night on a busy stretch of Bonnabel Boulevard in Metairie.

The carjacking took place at about 9:40 p.m. in the 600 block of Bonnabel Boulevard, which is close to the I-10 on-ramp.

According to Sheriff Newell Normand, a 39-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were driving south on Bonnabel when two men jumped in front of their vehicle and asked for help. She pulled behind a green Ford Explorer that had two men inside.

Normand said a black man with tattoos and wearing a black Saints shirt pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and told her and her daughter to get out of the car. Another person, a black man with short dreads and armed with a semi-automatic rifle, approached the daughter on the passenger side of the vehicle at the same time.

Once the mother and daughter were out of the vehicle, they were told to lie down on the ground. The two other men in the Ford Explorer got out of that car and joined the two gunmen in fleeing inside the victim's vehicle.

Police towed the Ford Explorer and are investigating the vehicle. They said it was not reported stolen.

The victim was driving a black 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with a Louisiana license plate of WTM308.

If you know anything that can help investigators, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
