NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police say a pastor shot at two men who were allegedly trying to burglarize his church.
It happened in the 1200 block of Vallette Street at about 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson, Pastor W.L.T. Littleton fired shots at two men when he discovered them trying to steal copper from the Greater Morning Star Baptist Church.
One of the men, a 50-year-old, was shot in the head and transported to the hospital. He's said to be stable.
The other suspect, 34-year-old Joseph Cross, was not shot but has been charged with theft of copper.
Robertson did not give any further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Littleton was questioned and released according to NOPD. Police will present its findings to the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office to review the case.
