RACELAND, La. - State Police are investigating a crash that took the life of a pedestrian in Lafourche Parish.

Around 8 p.m., the pedestrian was hit on NorthService Road, just east of LA 653, in Raceland. Twenty-six-year-old Jace Sevin, of Lockport, was hit by a car going westbound on the road, according to State Police.

The driver was not injured, and Sevin was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Impairment is suspected for Sevin, according to State Police, and toxicology tests are pending. The driver submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement.

Charges have not been filled at this time, and the crash remains under investigation.
