BATONROUGE, La. - A new state legislative audit revealed some problems with the way the toll collection system works on the Crescent City Connection.

The report found the integrated electronic toll collection system implemented by the Department of Transportation and Development for the bridge continues to function improperly.

Some of the problems highlighted in the audit include: the auto-replenishment function, the flagging and suspension of violator's vehicle registrations as well as the generic system documentation.

According to the audit: The auto-replenishment system malfunction means that customer service workers have to manually review and verify the replenishments into the customers' accounts.

The backlog on the violations invoicing module means the violations sometimes have to be manually reviewed, requiring additional man hours and that sometimes the backlogs mean the invoices don't go out within the mandated 90 days, causing some to be dismissed.
