BAYOUBLUE, La. -- Aman arrested Wednesday for helping his wife commit suicide was found dead Thursday by authorities. Terrebonne Parish officials believe that he took his own life.
The body of Charles Fanguy, 69, of Bayou Blue, was found in an La. 311 front yard around 6:30 a.m. by a passing motorist, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office. He died of a single gunshot to the head that appears to be self-inflicted, said a report in the Houma Courier.
Fanguy was arrested a day earlier for his involvement in the suicide of his wife, Betty, who died on May 17. He was released from jail around 1:30 p.m. after posting bond, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities said that Betty was in poor health and had shown suicidial tendencies. 'Evidence found at the scene showed that Betty had consumed alcoholic beverages and prescription pills. Those factors reportedly contributed to her death,' said a statement from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.
In June, Terrebonne detectives received information that Charles Fanguy confessed to helping Betty end her life.
Fanguy told acquaintances that he gave 'her prescription pills and a non-alcoholic beverage to help her swallow the pills after finding her injured from a fall inside their residence,' said the statement from the sheriff's office.
