NEWORLEANS - It was a stinging loss for the Who Dat nation as hopes were high the Saints would get back on track with Sunday's match-up against a team that was also winless coming in.
'I just can't believe. Right at the end. I can't believe it,' one fan said.
Moments after the Saints' shocking collapse was complete, fans filing out of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome sounded off on what they'd just witnessed.
Some blamed the Black and Gold's stagnant second half offense, while others blamed the porous defense.
'It is frustrating, you know. I mean, it's like they didn't anticipate they were gonna have to stop the run and stop the pass, like it was totally new to them,' another fan lamented.
Most seem to agree that there have been too many problems on both sides of the ball.
And a common concern centers on one key absence in the Saints organization.
'Sean Payton's not here. I mean, it was the truth last year when he was in the box. We felt the effects when he was in the box, so now he's not in the Dome at all. We need Payton,' said a man leaving the game.
Adding to the frustration is a personnel shakeup the entire league is dealing with - replacement officiating crews.
'Blame it on the rookie refs,' a fan said after the game.
'It's a joke. They're horrible. The calls they make are terrible, and then when they make the call, they don't know the rules. They gotta stand around and look at each other and decide what the rules are. It's a shame,' a fan with similar feelings said.
Many of WWLTV's Facebook friends were fuming about the loss and others were trying to keep the faith.
- 'Yes they can. They have to believe and play like they are trying to keep their jobs,' Christy Johnson commented.
- 'Can they get a bye year so they can get some practice??' Kevin Dufrene asked.
- 'The refs stole this game,' claimed Anita Collier, who echoed a lot of other commenters.
