BATON ROUGE ASlidell couple missed cashing in on the record $550-million Powerball jackpot, but still managed to win $1 million.

'Slidell resident David Hebert remembers telling a news crew outside of his local Winn Dixie store that he did not purchase the $1 million ticket sold there during last week's record Powerball drawing. Lucky for him, his wife did,' said a statement Louisiana Lottery. Hebert's wife Joyce matched five white balls in the Nov. 28, only missing the Powerball number.

Joyce Hebert said, 'I thought I only won $1,000,' when she joined her husband at Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge on Wednesday to collect the prize.

'I tried not to get emotional,' David Hebert said as he wiped away tears. They earned $700,000 after taxes.

David's grandchildren encouraged him to buy a new boat with the money, while family members who came with him to collect his prize said they would like to go on vacation. Joyce Hebert, however, reminded them that she doesn't fly.

The ticket was purchased at Winn Dixie on Brownswitch Road in Slidell. The store will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
